Australian Age Championships – swimming
Gold medal for age champion
Citipointe swim star Thomas (Year 11) achieved his sporting potential at the Australian Age Championships during the school holidays.
Swimming for Queensland in the mixed medley, Thomas achieved a personal best in the pool to power his team toward victory – a gold medal and an Australian Age Championship title in the event. Thomas also achieved silver medals in individual and team freestyle events. He raced against Australia’s best young swimmers and achieved the following fantastic results:
GOLD – Mixed 15-16yrs 4x50m Medley State Relay
SILVER – Boys 16yrs 50m Freestyle
SILVER – Boys 16yrs 100m Freestyle
SILVER – Boys 16-17yrs 4x50m Freestyle State Relay
The Australian Age Championships is the largest annual event on the Swimming Australia calendar and attracts thousands of athletes who come together to compete over six days on the Gold Coast. With heats held during the day, the top ten swimmers qualify for final events at night.
Congratulations to Thomas for achieving his personal best times in almost all events! Thank you to all the staff at Citipointe who encourage our students to achieve their personal best, both in the classroom and in their own areas of pursuit.
