‘Mary Poppins’ Musical – A Sensation!

Our latest College Musical was a sensational production of Mary Poppins, The Broadway Musical. It was more than supercalagragilisticexplosious; it was an incredible collaboration between students and staff, with tremendous support from our community.

Across five sensational shows, 70 students, including cast and crew, shared their God-given creative talents in singing, acting, dancing, graphic design, set and prop creation, and the musical orchestra.

“At first glance, Mary Poppins is filled with whimsy and song, but beneath the magic, it teaches us about balance, perspective, and the joy found in everyday moments. It reminds us of the importance of slowing down and truly connecting.”

A Magnificent Musical 12 Months in the Making

While the impressive show was on stage, amazing moments were happening behind the scenes. With more than 200 costumes created and hair and makeup for so many, backstage was abuzz with excitement, as well as vocal and dance warm-ups.

Term 1 Behind the Scenes

On the eve of the show, students and staff stood in the auditorium praying for one another.  Prayer continued before the show, at intermission and was whispered over the comms during the performance.

In Ephesians 1:22-23, we learn that we are one body made of many parts, and the musical team is an incredible example of this. Everyone brought their God-given gifts to create an outstanding production to uplift and inspire audiences.

Mary Poppins was presented by Citipointe Academy of the Arts (CAPA), and the Academy paid tribute to all performers and the crew. Head of Performance Mr Jared Proellocks extended his gratitude, saying we couldn’t do this show without the support and encouragement of parents, grandparents, family, and friends.

“One of the most beautiful things about this production has been seeing how Director Mrs Lim has integrated the concept of not just being a creative, but how to be a Christian artist. She has talked to students about the meaning of this show, stepping outside of yourself, and humbling yourself to be a better performer.”

Our Musical featured fresh young talent in the lead, and many “ups and downs” along the way for the cast and crew of 70. Throughout the challenges, Mrs Lim has absorbed the added pressure and carried on with grace and determination.

The College Musical is an excellent example of our College Character values in action: Faith in Jesus Christ, Integrity, Respect for self and others and Excellence, striving to do our personal best.
